The reasons for the final regulatory action were relevant to: Environment

Summary of known hazards and risks to the environment:

Trialkyltin hydroxide has risk of acute and reproductive toxic effect on aquatic organisms, and it can strongly bioaccumulate in various aquatic organisms.

Expected effect of the final regulatory action in relation to the environment:

It is expected that the regulatory action will significantly reduce the potential risk of those reproductive and bioaccumulative effect to aquatic organisms

Date of entry into force of the final regulatory action: 16/09/2003

Tributyl tin oxide and its mixtures were banned for manufacture, use and import by MOE's Public Notice No 1991-44(9 August 1991). The Notice was amended several times and final amended notice took into force 16 September 2003.
